Southern nomad from Tennessee; my is artwork influenced from shamanic symbolism, pop culture, and cross-cultural iconography. I like to tell stories through a narrative of line, value and texture. My under-grad studies were at Volunteer State Community College printmaking and sculpture. My series of artwork range from editorial cartooning to graphic novel and conceptual art.
Completed my BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design with honors from the Illinois Institute of Art of Chicago in 2013. When I was child I found my first comic book in a Kroger’s store. I loved black and white work, because of the purity of the darks and the contrast it had. Illustration is the art of telling stories. The stories I like to tell are through a narrative of line, value and texture. My work is influenced by manga, graphic novels, and political humor, My passion is telling the stories of politics, history and social interest. I’m inspired to tell stories by social justice and irony of those in power. The power of the individual even in a world of conformity and sheep-like people. I see myself more as a social commentator than a political cartoonist. I don’t pick sides left or right with my pencil, often finding myself just as much frustrated with the left as much with the right. The idea that those in power are civil-servants of the people, are really self-servants. I find comedy in everyday things and feel that everything and everyone has a story to tell
